Dionne Warwick is thrilled about Rock Hall nomination

Dionne Warwick wants to see women receive the credit they deserve from the music industry. She’s proud to be on the ballot for induction in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year.

Dionne talked about the privilege of being on the ballot with other female artists like The Go-Go'sCarole King, Chaka Khan and Tina Turner.

On having these great artists nominated for induction, Dionne asked, "What took them so long?"

She discussed what she says is the music industry placing female artists “in certain boxes. ”Dionne said that "music is universal. We all sing the same eight notes as the scale. It's just a matter of how they're combined and presented."

Warwick really wants her fans to stand up and help vote these deserving artists in to the Rock Hall.

She also gave credit to other females and wondered why it’s taken so long to get them the credit they deserve. She said, "Mary J. Blige, Carole King. I mean, how could you miss Carole King, please [laugh] or Tina Turner? You know, that doesn't make sense at all."

On taking so long for many of these female artists to be nominated, Dionne said, "It just kind of befuddles me, what takes people so long to realize the importance of not only the music but the women who have presented these beautiful songs have been in the industry, giving you the joy that we've given."
