Dennis DeYoung will release his new album ’26 East: Volume Two’ next month, but he tells fans not to expect a livestream show to promote it.
The album will feature 12 original songs, many of which have similar sound and styling to his days as the leader of Styx.
Dennis talked about the underlying theme of the new album:
"Something to do with time. This is not a new idea: parents from the very beginning of time, they've been telling their children, 'Be careful. It's going to go fast.' So, there is the recognition at 74 that, 'Wait a minute, what the hell just happen?' And as I say in the song, 'Always Time,' 'Didn't we just say hello?'"
DeYoung went on to say he doesn’t plan any live shows for the rest of the year as he takes a cautious approach to returning to the road.Dennis also added that he doesn’t believe livestream shows are a proper substitute to playing live.
He said, "Music and concerts, the magic is live! It's the feeling of being with other people, a collective experience. And you want to have those D-B's bouncing off your head. You're not going to get that on any kind of zoom, whatever tricks people come up with. Watch them, enjoy them if they make you happy. Who am I to tell you what to like. They don't do much for me."
