Dire Straits have moved back the release date of their upcoming ‘Encores EP’ from July 17th (Record Store Day) to Black Friday, November 26th—which is also a celebration of independent record shops.
The 4-song live EP was originally put out back in 1993 after the live album ‘On the Night.” The reissued version has been remastered and pressed onto pink vinyl. Songs included are "Your Latest Trick," "The Bug," "Solid Rock" and "Local Hero (Wild Theme)."
Dire Straits also recently released a half speed master version of their classic 1985 album ‘Brothers in Arms.’ Mark Knopfler also gave his soundtrack to the 1983 ‘Local Hero’ the same treatment with its re-release.
Knopfler’s soundtrack to the 1987 movie ‘The Princess Bride’ has also been newly orchestrated and will be performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic during a showing of the film on July 31st at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
