REO Speedwagon is finally returning to the road this Thursday in Aurora, Illinois, just outside Chicago. The venue is close to Lawn, Illinois, Kevin Cronin’s hometown.
Cronin said in an interview recently with the Chicago Tribune“ It feels so good to be playing. ”He added, “Being a Chicago band, it kind of makes sense that REO Speedwagon would usher live music back into Chicagoland.”
Kevin went on to say that the past year plus has been the longest stretch the band has been off the road. To get tour ready, Cronin has hired his son Shane as a vocal coach.
Kevin said, “I hear a difference now, it sounds more open. It’s changed singing for me: It’s more fun, I can let go more.” Cronin went on to say that he had actually been trying to protect his voice with his vocal style, but in reality he was straining his voice.
REO Speedwagon have dates scheduled through the middle of December. There are also plans in the works for a co-headlining tour for them in 2022. We've seen them here in Central Texas a couple of times over the past 15 years and they're fantastic in concert.
