Jimmy Buffett is among the performers on the PBS special “A Capitol Fourth,” which will air Sunday on PBS. Buffett is planning something very special for his performance.
The legendary singer will premiere a brand new version of the Woody Guthrie classic “This Land is Your Land.” Jimmy taped his performance along with his Coral Reefer Band in southern California while overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
That will be shown along with scenes from across the country during the PBS special.
Buffett says, "I have always been a big admirer of Woody Guthrie's…his simple songs and poignant lyrics."
He added, "They were some of the first songs I learned to play. I have been lucky enough to travel this land, and think it is the best song that encapsulates what America means and is."
“A Capitol Fourth” will air July 4th at 7pm Sunday night locally in Central Texas on PBS, KLRU-TV (Austin PBS) or KERA-TV (Dallas-Ft. Worth PBS).
