Darlene Love stopped by the Today show on NBC on Monday to talk about plans for her 80th birthday concert next week at City Winery in New York.
Love admitted to being nervous about the concert because the music legend hasn’t performed in three years. Love received pre-recorded birthday greetings from good friends Dionne Warwick and Paul Shaffer to help calm her pre-performance nerves.
Love also spoke about her good friendship with Elvis Presley, whom she called a “gentle giant.” She also recalled her early group The Blossoms performing gospel music with The King on the road.
