Lionel Richie is set to be honored with the Library of Congress' 2022 Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, which is given to a living musician who enhances cultural understanding and inspires new generations through music.
Lionel said, “This is truly an honor of a lifetime, and I am so grateful to be receiving the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song,” Lionel added, “I am proud to be joining all the other previous artists, who I also admire and am a fan of their music.”
Lionel will receive that honor at an upcoming all-star tribute concert in Washington D.C. scheduled for March 9th.It will air on PBS on May 17th.
