John Mellencamp says if all goes according to plan, he expects production will begin on his new musical, ‘Small Town,’ in Louisville, Kentucky in September.
Talking about the musical, John said, "It's the story of Jack and Diane -- not the story that you guys are expecting -- but Diane is Latin when they live in a small town and how corporate America destroyed their small town and made people sick. It's kind of in the vein of dark."
Many of Mellencamp’s other songs will also be included in the musical. Mellencamp's first musical was ‘Ghost Brothers of Darkland County,’ that he co-wrote with author Stephen King and producer and musician T Bone Burnett. It debuted back in 2012.
Mellencamp is also working on a remix of his classic 1985 album ‘Scarecrow,’ along with new songs for the album.
