David Crosby says music is a "lifting force" in his life, but during a recent interview, the rock ‘n roll icon said “turn the other way” when asked what advice he would give youngsters.
Crosby said, "Don't become a musician Crosby." He added, "You know how shitty it is for me to say that? You know how much I don't want to say that?" He went on to say, "Some bright-eyed young kid who has talent … I don't want to say that to them, and it is the truth. I don't hold out any hope for it at all."
Crosby said he doesn't see the future of music having much of a moral compass. Crosby added, "I'm making music because music makes things better, and it makes people happier."
He wrapped up saying, "That's good enough for me. If I don't get paid, I don't get paid.”
