The images of the destruction and chaos in Ukraine are not lost on Brian May. The rock ‘n roll legend is recalling Queen’s show there a few years ago and sending his thoughts and prayers.
On June 30th, 2012 Queen + Adam Lambert performed their first full show there in front of 350,000 people in Freedom Square in Kyiv. And back in 2008, four years earlier, they performed in Ukraine with Paul Rodgers.
May recently posted a photo from the 2008 show with the caption, "It seems unbelievable that the peaceful life of Ukraine could be so senselessly shattered in the 21st century. And it feels unbearable that the world could just watch and let it happen. We are all praying for peace for you, dear friends."
Brian May and Adam Lambert talked about their first full show together in Ukraine back in 2012:
Brian said: “It was a tall order, and I think we all knew it, and that gig was put in at the front of the tour to enormous numbers of people.”
Adam said: “It was fun and it was thrilling, and it was what I love the most about being a vocalist, is the adrenaline. It's the thrill of something that could possibly go wrong. I like that."
