Dave Grohl did his first performance after the death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. He he joined Paul MCCartney last Saturday night at England’s Glastonbury festival.
When introducing Grohl, McCartney, who also inducted the Foos into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last October, said, “I’ve got a little surprise for you. Your hero from the west coast of America – Dave Grohl!”
After taking the stage, Grohl then said, “Hi Paul. How are you?” before asking the audience how they were. The two then performed The Beatles classic “I Saw Her Standing There” and the Wings hit “Band on the Run.”
McCartney told the audience that Grohl flew in specially to do the show, and Grohl said, "Well, I started on Wednesday. Then the flight got canceled, back to the airport Thursday and then the flight got canceled, but I swear I would never miss being on stage with you right now."
Bruce Springsteen, who recently played with McCartney on June 16th at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, also flew over to again play "Glory Days" with McCartney, along with “I Want to Be Your Man.” Both Grohl and Springsteen joined Sir Paul for a guitar jam on “The End.”
