Olivia Newton-John’s niece Tottie Goldsmith sat down for an interview with ‘A Current Affair” to talk about the final days in the life of her famous aunt.
Tottie said Olivia was “in a lot of pain.” She added, “It’s not a shock — we’ve known how sick she’s been, especially in the last five days,” she shares. “It wasn’t just the cancer that got her; it was other complications, being in a hospital and with a very susceptible immune system.” She adds, “She got secondary infections. She really went down in the past five, six days.”
Olivia had been straightforward about using cannabis to relieve her pain over the years. Olivia’s niece noted that she “really struggled with a lot of pain.”
Olivia’s husband John Easterling posted a loving tribute to his late wife on Instagram. John said, “Olivia, Our love for each other transcends our understanding,” he writes. “Every day we expressed our gratitude for this love that could be so deep, so real, so natural.” He adds, “We never had to ‘work’ on it. We were in awe of this great mystery and accepted the experience of our love as past, present and forever.” He then went on to praise her “bandwidth for genuinely caring,” noting, “In her most difficult times she always had the spirit, the humor, and the will power to move things into the light,” adding, “Even now as her soul soars, the pain and holes in my heart are healed with the joy of her love and the light that shines forward."
