Today, August 16th, is a day that spans quite a few chapters in the history of music.
Starting in 1962, Pete Best was fired from The Beatles, paving the way for a Starr to be born -- Ringo Starr.
In 1977, Elvis Presley, the "King of Rock and Roll," died at the age of 42 from a drug overdose.
In 2018, Aretha Franklin, the "Queen of Soul," died from pancreatic cancer. She was 76.
And, speaking of "royalty," it was on this day in 1948 that baseball legend Babe Ruth, the "Sultan of Swat," died from throat cancer at the age of 53.
