Pink Floyd having recently released a remixed version of their 1977 album ‘Animals,’ and drummer Nick Mason was asked if there are any plans to commemorate the 50th anniversary of ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ next year.
Mason said, "We're still looking at what we could do or should do. I mean, it is a remarkable thing to hit a sort of 50 year thing on a record like that. What's so extraordinary is when we made the record we were really pleased with it, but had no concept of it still being around 50 years later."
The Dark Side of Moon is the longest-charting rock album in the history of the Billboard 200 with 402 weeks. It charted for a combined total of 1716 weeks on the Billboard 200 and Pop Catalog charts, and has sold nearly 45 million copies worldwide.
