The U.S. government has turned down Mariah Carey for a trademark.Mimi wanted to trademark “Queen of Christmas,” but the government said no.
The U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board declined Mariah’s attempt to trademark "Queen of Christmas" on Tuesday. The government also denied the rights to "Princess Christmas" and "Christmas Princess."
Mariah first filed her request back in March of 2021. She got some blow-back from both Darlene Love and Elizabeth Chen, who have both also made a career of recording Christmas music. According to TMZ, Carey wanted to apply her new title on a number of items, including fragrances, lotions, nail polish, jewelry, coconut water, ornaments and dog clothing.
Last December, Mariah told the BBC, “Can I just say that I did not create the title or the moniker ‘Queen of Christmas'? That was other people, and I just want to humbly say that I don’t consider myself that.”
