Elvis Presley’s 1962 Lockheed 1329 JetStar private jet went to auction on what would have been his 88th birthday.
The plane was presented by Priscilla Presley, who recalled “Elvis loved planes.”
Despite its overall condition, the auctioneer suggested the plane could be restored and made into an exhibit for Elvis’ fans. It was noted that the plane didn’t fly anymore. Its engines and most of the cockpit instrumentation had been removed.
The airplane sold for $260,000, which is actually a loss for the seller who purchased it for $430,000 in 2017. It is one of several private jets owned by Elvis and still contains some of the custom red velvet upholstery, a microwave and a television. Two other jets owned by Elvis are currently on display for fans at Graceland.
