There have been several Beatles documentaries the past few years, and now it's time for one about Paul McCartney's other band, Wings. The new documentary has a working title of Man on the Run, and it's being directed by Morgan Neville, who’s best known for 20 Feet From Stardom and Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain.
The film has Sir Paul’s full cooperation and his financial backing. McCartney gave Neville full access to never-before-seen archives of his and late wife Linda’s home videos and photos, and there will be all new interviews.
The documentary begins with McCartney dealing with the aftermath of the break-up of The Beatles and chronicles the path of his solo career. We’ll keep you posted on its progress.
Paul once commented on forming Wings after The Beatles broke up. He said, "I just thought I love this stuff too much to get out of it. So then the next thing was, well how are you gonna do it, you know are you gonna get a big super group together? Are you going to kind of go back to the roots and just try and work it all again and see if you could organically form a kind of proper band. So I said to Linda, 'Hey, you know I need a friend up there on stage with me. Do you want to be in a group?' She thought about it for a moment, she said, 'Okay, sure.' And that is what we did. We got a couple of guys together, got out on the road and never looked back."
