The Kinks have just announced a 2-year celebration to mark their 60th anniversary.
The group's three remaining members, Ray Davies, Dave Davies and Mick Avory, have selected several songs for a new compilation to kick off the campaign. The Journey - Part 1 will be released March 24th with Part 2 due to be released this year.
The Journey - Part 1 (1964-1975) will be available digitally, along with two CD and two LP sets. The album is divided into four themes: "Songs about becoming a man, the search for adventure, finding an identity and a girl," "Songs of ambition achieved, bitter taste of success, loss of friends, the past comes back and bites you in the backside," "Days and nights of a lost soul, songs of regret and reflection of happier times" and "A new start, a new love, but have you really changed? Still haunted by the quest and the girl."
Several special events will mark the band's 60th anniversary and will be announced in the upcoming months.
