Stevie Nicks and Don Henley, two iconic lead singers, scored a top 10 hit in 1982 with the classic “Leather and Lace.”
Stevie wrote the song with country stars Waylon Jennings and wife Jessi Colter in mind, but they passed on it because they were having trouble in their marriage at that time. Even though Jennings and Colter passed on the song, they did name their 1981 album ‘Leather and Lace.’
Stevie Nicks was dating Don Henley at the time and she brought him in to record the song as a duet. It was Don Henley’s first non-Eagles hit.
Stevie once commented on why her singing voice is nicely suited for recording duets. She said, "I like my quirky little voice. I mean, I always think I can do better, but I like my voice. I don't have a whole lot of problem with that. And I also love to hear my voice singing with other people. And that's why obviously I sing with other people... is because I love harmony singing. I like my voice."
