The Beatles, The Stones weren't fans of Zep's first album

When Led Zeppelin released their self-titled debut n 1969, members of The Beatles and Rolling Stones were not big fans of the album.

Glyn Johns, the engineer for the classic album, says, “It was nothing like what I expected. But I remember taking the record and playing it to George Harrison on the way home from a Beatles session [for Let it Be], and he didn’t like it at all. And I remember playing it to Mick Jagger, because I thought they should go on the Rock and Roll Circus [TV special]. And Mick didn’t like it at all either!”

Years later, the Stones crossed paths with Zeppelin's Jimmy Page who played guitar on their demo of "Heart of Stone," along with a solo on the song "One Hit (To the Body)." He also played on "Scarlet," which was named after his daughter.

The Rolling Stones’ piano player and road manager Ian Stewart played piano on Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" and "Boogie With Stu," a tribute to the legendary keyboardist.

Helen Grant, the daughter of Zep's late manager Peter Grant, questioned some of their songs. She told The Times, "It drags, doesn’t it? If I go to see a Led Zeppelin tribute band and they’re doing 'Kashmir', I daren’t look around. I’m worried that half the audience will be asleep.”

Helen, by the way, is selling the 10% of the band's catalog that she inherited from her father's estate.
