Neil Young has spoken out on the death of longtime friend Robbie Robertson on August 9th from prostate cancer.
Young says, “Robbie was a great player and writer, his Americana songs in a class all their own. Robbie was always ahead of me up there in Canada, and I was watching and listening to what he and The Band were up to. The Band is one of the greatest of all time. His memory will live on.”
Neil also posted a link to his new song “White Line,” which featured Robertson on guitar.
Young was one of the special musical guests at The Band’s Last Waltz concert in San Francisco back in 1976. He performed “Helpless” and “Four Strong Winds,” and Young also joined in on “Acadian Driftwood,” the finale.
