Cyndi Lauper has been working on her 1994 song "Come on Home." The pop star has sung background vocals on a re-recording of the song.
“Come on Home” was written by singer-songwriter Danni Baylor, and the re-recording will be released digitally this Friday as a benefit for the Sound Mind Network, a non-profit helping those battling mental health issues and drug addiction.
Cyndi says, "The more we learn about mental health, the better we are as a society. This is an issue we have swept under the rug forever. My hope is that ‘Come on Home’ can raise money to eliminate the shame around mental health that has caused a lot of people to needlessly suffer.”
This new version of the song will be included on a compilation album to benefit the Sound Mind Network along with songs by Joan Osborne, Kathy Sledge, The Bacon Brothers and Taj Mahal.
