Denny Laine, the former guitarist of Wings and The Moody Blues, is facing a serious health challenge and is asking for support. His wife Elizabeth has launched a GoFundMe page to raise funds for his medical expenses and recovery.
According to Elizabeth, Denny has been suffering from a lung illness that developed after he contracted COVID-19 last year. He has been hospitalized several times and undergone multiple tests, surgeries, and treatments. He recently had a collapsed lung and a bacterial infection in his blood.
"Denny is in need of several weeks of physical and occupational rehabilitation... I’m asking for financial help to get Denny the medical care and recovery time he requires. It’s important he concentrates on healing during this time. Our goal is to have Gypsy Den home in time for his [79th] birthday, October 29th. He wants to be able to play his guitar again. Presently, he’s too weak,” Elizabeth wrote on the GoFundMe page.
Denny Laine is a renowned musician who played with Paul McCartney and Wings from 1971 to 1981, and with The Moody Blues from 1964 to 1966. He co-wrote the hit songs "Go Now" and "Mull of Kintyre" and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
He has been performing solo shows and collaborating with other artists in recent years, but his health issues have forced him to cancel his upcoming gigs.
If you'd like to help Denny Laine, you can donate to his GoFundMe campaign, which has raised close to $17,000 of the goal of $100,000 as of September 27th. You can also send him your best wishes and prayers for his recovery.
