Legendary singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks has now been immortalized by toy maker Mattel in a Barbie doll that pays tribute to her iconic look on the cover of Fleetwood Mac's 1977 album ‘Rumours.’ The doll features Nicks in a black outfit with a long chiffon scarf, a gold crescent moon necklace, and a pair of platform boots.
Nicks announced the news on stage at New York's Madison Square Garden on Sunday night, and then shared it on social media with a heartfelt message. She wrote, "My Stevie Barbie has been with me now for several months. When Mattel came to me asking if I would like to have a Barbie made in the Rumours cover style I was very overwhelmed. Of course I questioned 'Would she look like me? Would she have my spirit? Would she have my heart…'
"When I look at her, I see my 27-year old self. All the memories of walking out on a big stage in that black outfit and those gorgeous boots come rushing back. And then I see myself now in her face. What we have been through since 1975. The battles we have fought, the lessons we have learned together. I am her and she is me. She absolutely has my heart.”
The Stevie Nicks Barbie doll also comes with a tambourine with cascading ribbons, a stand, and a Certificate of Authenticity. The doll will be available at retailers on November 10th.
In an interview with Vulture.com, Nicks also revealed that her Barbie has a love interest named Kenelvis, who is a mod Ken doll from the early '80s dressed in an Elvis Presley outfit. She said, "They look at each other in a way that’s like they’ve been in love for centuries."
