Brian May reveals how he helped Adam Lambert nail a Queen classic

Brian May has shared a video from the Queen+Adam Lambert ‘Rhapsody Tour,’ showing how he advised Lambert to sing a crucial line in the Queen classic 'Somebody to Love'.

In a post on his Instagram account, May wrote that Lambert sings the Queen songs with his own style, adding new ideas and vocal embellishments. He praised Lambert for his performance of 'Somebody to Love', but noted that there was one part of the song where the audience seemed confused.

The part in question is where the music stops and the singer invites the crowd to finish the line. 'Somebody tooooooo...' According to May, this is a tradition that dates back to Freddie Mercury. He said that Lambert used to extend the 'tooo' in a way that changed the cue for the audience, making them unsure of how to sing along.

May said that he suggested to Lambert that he should try singing the line straight, as it is on the studio recording, to give a clear cue to the audience. He said that Lambert agreed to try it as an experiment, and the result was amazing.

The video shows Lambert singing the line in Boston, and the audience responding with a loud and confident 'love'. May said that he was thrilled by the reaction and thanked Lambert for being open to his suggestion.

May also expressed his gratitude to the fans for their support and enthusiasm. He said that he was enjoying the tour and looking forward to playing more shows with Queen and Adam Lambert.
