Pete Townshend, the legendary guitarist and songwriter of The Who, has revealed some details about his new projects and the future of his band in an interview with the Daily Beast.
Townshend is working on his next rock opera, Age of Anxiety, based on his 2019 novel of the same name. He said the project will also include a documentary that will explore the themes of the novel, such as creativity, spirituality, and mental health.
He also said that there is interest from film and TV companies to adapt the graphic novel that is part of the recently released Who's Next / Lifehouse box set. The graphic novel tells the story of Lifehouse, Townshend's original concept for Who's Next, which was never fully realized.
As for The Who, Townshend said that he is not sure what they will do next, as Roger Daltrey, the lead singer, has a bad knee that may require surgery. He praised Daltrey's singing and said they are thinking of doing some more shows with an orchestra in some places they missed before. However, he added that he is 78 years old and that they will see what happens.
In other Who news, Townshend said that he is happy that their classic song "Baba O'Riley" is being used in a commercial for Body Armor sports drink, as it helps them reach a new generation of fans.
