Sting, Pink and Marshmello have teamed up for a new version of Sting's classic song "Fields of Gold", titled "Dreaming". The song is a hit on the dance charts, reaching #1 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales and number-12 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
"Dreaming" is part of the "Tour Deluxe Edition" of Pink's album Trustfall, which will be released on December 1st. The album features other collaborations with artists such as Ed Sheeran, Halsey and Khalid.
Sting says he enjoys seeing his songs reinterpreted by other artists. "I always like it when [a] different mind takes one of my songs and adds something of their own to it. I never feel that possessive. I'm always interested to know where it can go. A song is just a template for something else," he says.
"Dreaming" is not only a success on the dance charts, but also on the adult pop radio. The song is currently at number-34 on the Billboard Adult Pop Airplay chart, making it Sting's highest-charting song on that chart since his 2006 duet with Sheryl Crow, "Always on Your Side".
This is also the second consecutive year that Sting has a hit on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. Last year, he collaborated with Swedish House Mafia on a remix of his Police song "Roxanne", titled "Redlight". The song peaked at #20 in March 2022.
