Beatles re-issues out today

Beatles fans are celebrating their legacy with the re-release of two of their classic compilations, ‘1962-1966 (The Red Album)’ and ‘1967-1970 (The Blue Album),’ out today. Both albums have been expanded with additional tracks, including their final new song, "Now and Then," which was unveiled last week.

The Red Album contains 12 more songs, while the Blue Album has nine more, bringing the total number of tracks to 40 and 37 respectively. All the songs, both old and new, have been remixed in stereo and Dolby Atmos by Giles Martin, the son of their late producer George Martin.

Martin explained that he chose the additional tracks based on the current listening trends of Beatles fans, and tried to avoid repeating the number-one hits that are already well-known. He also said that he was careful not to change the character of the original recordings, comparing the remixing process to plastic surgery.

He was especially impressed by the sound quality of the early Beatles songs, which were de-mixed and remixed using new technology. He called it a "revelation" and said it was more exciting than most of the other projects he had done.

The Red and Blue albums are available in multiple formats, including four-CD and six 180-gram vinyl sets. Fans can also stream or download the albums from various platforms.
