Sammy Hagar announced his 2024 The Best of Both Worlds tour, which will showcase his solo career and his time with Van Halen. He has also extended an open invitation to any musician who wants to join him on stage for a song or two, including his former bandmates David Lee Roth and Alex Van Halen.
However, Hagar has made it clear that this is not a Van Halen reunion, and that he is not expecting Roth to be a regular guest on the tour. He said that he only meant that Roth could come out and sing a song or two if he happened to be in the same city as him, but that the tour is mainly about celebrating his own era with the band.
Roth, who was the original lead singer of Van Halen before Hagar replaced him in 1985, had expressed his interest in joining Hagar on the tour, saying that he was "ready to go. Let's do this." Roth and Hagar have a long history of rivalry and animosity, and they have never performed together on stage. They did co-headline a tour in 2002, but they did not interact or share the spotlight.
Hagar said that he wanted to "nip it in the bud" before fans got the wrong idea and thought that Roth would be a part of the tour. He said that he did not want anyone to buy a ticket hoping to see a Van Halen reunion and then be disappointed. He also joked that Roth should "behave himself" if he decided to show up.
The Best of All Worlds tour will feature Michael Anthony and Jason Bonham from Hagar's current band, The Circle, as well as Joe Satriani from his previous band, Chickenfoot. Loverboy will be the opening act. The tour will kick off on July 13th in West Palm Beach, Florida. It will also make a stop at Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas on August 22nd.
