Steven Tyler has given signs of recovery after suffering a fracture of his larynx in September that forced Aerosmith to cancel their ‘Peace Out’ tour.
Tyler posted a photo on Instagram of himself in the studio with an engineer, with the caption, "THROATS ON THE MEND… BUT MY EARS STILL WORK! SO IN THE MEANTIME… IT’S STUDIO TIME... STARTING RE-MIXING AEROSMITH AEROSMITH!"
It is unclear if he is referring to the band's self-titled debut album from 1973, which featured classics like "Dream On" and "Mama Kin", or if he is working on a new project.
However, bandmate Joe Perry has indicated that the band is not interested in recording new music, but rather revisiting their catalog, which was acquired by Universal in 2021.
Perry said: "Steven and I have been talking about it and listening to the catalog and listening to the different versions of the different songs and we're kind of getting excited about kind of the way Jimmy Page has been going back and looking at the Led Zeppelin catalog and releasing some of the stuff that's never been released before. So, we've been kind of focusing on that and at the same time every once in a while, we look at each other and go, 'Hey, what do you think about getting in the studio again?' With so much stuff going on I won't say it'll never happen, but we'll see."
Aerosmith hope to resume their Peace Out tour early next year, although the previously announced dates in January have been removed from their schedule. The tour, which started in 2019, is supposed to be the band's farewell to the stage after 50 years of rock and roll history.
