The Rolling Stones are not slowing down anytime soon. The legendary rock band has released the best rock album of 2023, according to the writers of England's ‘Classic Rock’ magazine.
Hackney Diamonds is the first collection of original material from the Stones in 18 years. It features 12 songs that showcase the band's signature sound, as well as some new influences and experiments. The album was recorded at the Hackney Empire Theatre in London, where the band performed a series of intimate shows in 2022.
Hackney Diamonds topped a list of 50 albums that spanned various genres and generations of rock music. The list included albums from younger bands like Metallica, Foo Fighters, and Queens of the Stone Age, as well as veterans like Ian Hunter, Alice Cooper, and Peter Gabriel.
One of the most surprising entries on the list was Ian Hunter, the former frontman of Mott the Hoople, who released his latest album, Defiance Part I, at the age of 84. Hunter's album ranked fourth on the list, making him the oldest artist to feature on the list, and older than each of the Rolling Stones members.
The Rolling Stones have expressed their gratitude and delight at being named the best rock album of 2023.
