Ace Frehley 'happy' KISS ended their tour

Former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley has expressed his relief that his ex-bandmates have finally wrapped up their ‘End of the Road’ tour, which he described as "pretty silly" and "not real rock and roll".

In an interview with Germany's Rock Antenne, Frehley said he was glad that he would not be compared to KISS anymore, especially after their controversial avatar show, which he criticized as being "geared towards children".

"I'm not gonna be compared to them anymore… But I don't get this avatar thing. It kind of looked like it was, you know, geared towards children. I think the whole thing's pretty silly. And it's definitely not real rock and roll," Frehley said.

The avatar show was a virtual concert that KISS performed on December 9th, using digital versions of themselves and a holographic stage. The show was streamed online and also shown in select cinemas around the world.

Frehley, who left KISS in 1982 and rejoined briefly in the 1990s, said he did not know how the avatar show was received by the fans, but he hoped it did well because he still gets a royalty for his make-up design. "But, you know, I wish them all the best. I hope they made a lot of money, because I still get a royalty for my make-up," he said.

Frehley, who is also known as the "Space Ace", is currently working on his own solo career. He will release his new album, 10,000 Volts, on February 23rd. The album will feature guest appearances by Slash, Lita Ford and John 5. Frehley said he was excited to share his new music with his fans.

"I think it's one of the best albums I've ever done. It's got a lot of energy, a lot of great songs, a lot of great guitar playing. I think the fans are gonna love it," he said.

10,000 Volts will be Frehley's ninth solo album and his first since 2018's Spaceman. "I'm looking forward to getting back on the road and playing live again. That's what I love to do. That's real rock and roll," he said.
