Rolling Stones release new 'Mess It Up' video

The Rolling Stones have unveiled the video for their latest single, "Mess It Up," from their new album, ‘Hackney Diamonds.’ The video features British actor Nicholas Hoult, who recently landed the role of Lex Luthor in the upcoming ‘Superman: Legacy’ movie.

The video, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Edgar Wright, tells a story of regret and revenge. It begins with Hoult having a heated argument with his girlfriend, played by Lily James, and storming out of their apartment. He then goes on a wild spree of partying, gambling, and flirting with other women, while his girlfriend tries to move on with her life.

However, by the end of the video, Hoult realizes that he made a huge mistake and decides to go back to his girlfriend. But he is in for a rude shock when he finds out that she has not only found a new partner, but also had a child with him. To add insult to injury, the new boyfriend, played by Tom Hardy, punches Hoult in the face and knocks him down.

As Hoult lies on the ground, he hears the first single from the album, "Angry," playing in his head. The song, which features the late Charlie Watts on drums, is a fitting soundtrack for his misery. Watts, who passed away in August 2023, also plays on another track from the album, "Live by the Sword."

"Mess It Up" is the fifth song from Hackney Diamonds to have a video, following "Angry," "Sweet Sounds of Heaven," "Bite My Head Off," and "Whole Wide World." The album, which was released in November 2023, has received rave reviews from critics and fans alike, and has been hailed as one of the best albums of the year.

The Rolling Stones are currently on their world tour, which will conclude in London in June 2024.
