Sir Elton John has joined the elite club of performers who have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony award, also known as the EGOT. He is the 19th person and the third music star to achieve this feat, following John Legend and Jennifer Hudson.
The legendary singer-songwriter earned his Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special for his Disney+ TV special ‘Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium,’ which aired Monday night. The show captured his final concert in Los Angeles as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which he announced in 2018.
Elton was unable to attend the Emmy ceremony due to a knee injury, but he sent a heartfelt statement via email, expressing his gratitude and humility. He said, “I am incredibly humbled to be joining the unbelievably talented group of EGOT winners tonight. The journey to this moment has been filled with passion, dedication, and the unwavering support of my fans all around the world.
