B-52s' Fred Schneider no fan of karaoke 'Love Shack'

If you are a fan of the B-52s, you know their iconic song 'Love Shack', which topped the charts in 1989 and became a staple of weddings and parties ever since. But you may not know that lead singer Fred Schneider is not a big fan of hearing his own song everywhere.

In a recent interview with NME, Schneider revealed that he never expected 'Love Shack' to be such a huge hit, and that he finds it annoying to hear it at every event he attends. He said, "It was just a happy accident that ‘Love Shack’ finally became a hit, and now you have to go to every damn wedding and hear it!"

However, Schneider has a unique way of dealing with the situation. He said, "Whenever I hear a bad version of ‘Love Shack’ being performed, I’ll say: ‘Look, do you mind if I sing it?’ If someone’s ruining the song on karaoke, I’ll get up there! The singer is in shock -- but everyone else appreciates it because the other person stank.”

Schneider added that he enjoys surprising people with his impromptu performances, and that he often gets applause and cheers from the crowd. He said, "It’s fun to see their faces when they realize it’s me. They usually say, ‘Wow, you sound just like him!’ And I say, ‘Well, I am him!’”

Schneider also said that he is proud of the legacy of 'Love Shack', and that he is grateful for the fans who love the song. He said, "It’s a great song, and I’m glad it made so many people happy. I just wish they would sing it better!"
