Steven Tyler has a special surprise for his fans and friends who will attend his fifth annual Jam for Janie Grammy Awards Viewing Party on February 4th at the Hollywood Palladium. He has invited The Black Crowes, who were supposed to open for Aerosmith on their Peace Out farewell tour last year, to perform at his charity event.
The Peace Out tour was cancelled after only three shows when Tyler suffered a vocal cord injury that required surgery and rest. Tyler said he felt bad for the Crowes, who had prepared a set of classic rock songs to pay tribute to Aerosmith. He decided to make it up to them by hiring them to play at his party, which raises money for Janie’s Fund, a foundation he created to help young women who have experienced trauma.
The Crowes will take the stage after the guests watch the Grammy Awards on a big screen. Tyler said he hopes the music will keep everyone entertained and energized, as he finds the awards show boring and predictable. He also said he is not expecting to win anything, as Aerosmith has not released any new music since 2012.
The party will also feature an auction, where attendees can bid on some of Tyler’s personal items, such as his 1970s Ludwig Blue Vistalite five-piece drum set, his refurbished 1965 Corvette, and a chance to have their portrait taken with him by celebrity photographer Andy Gotts. Other items include earrings worn by Taylor Swift, artwork from Bernie Taupin, and a guitar signed by The Black Crowes.
Tyler said he is looking forward to the party, as it is a way to celebrate his recovery, his music, and his cause. He said he is grateful for the support of The Black Crowes, who he considers as friends and fellow rockers. He also said he hopes to resume the Peace Out tour later this year, if his voice allows it.
