The Grammy Awards are known for featuring some of the biggest names in music, and this year is no exception. Among the performers announced for the 64th annual ceremony are U2, the Irish rock band that has won more Grammys than any other group in history.
However, U2 will not be joining the rest of the artists at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where the show will take place. Instead, they will be performing from a different location: the Sphere, a futuristic venue in Las Vegas that boasts a 360-degree LED screen and immersive sound system.
U2's performance will be part of a special segment that will also include a presentation of an award, although it is not clear which one. The band is currently in the middle of their U2:UV Achtung Baby Live residency, which celebrates the 30th anniversary of their landmark album. It is not known if they will perform live from the Sphere or use a pre-recorded video from a previous show.
The last time U2 performed at the Grammys was in 2018, when they played "Get Out of Your Own Way" from a barge on the Hudson River. That same night, they also joined rapper Kendrick Lamar for a powerful opening number.
U2 are not the only legends who will grace the Grammy stage this year. Billy Joel, who has not performed at the awards since 1994, will also make an appearance, along with pop stars Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa, who are both nominated for multiple awards.
The Grammys will be held on February 4th and will air live on CBS at 7pm (Central).
