Simon and Garfunkel, one of the most influential and successful duos in music history, have not performed together since 2010, and their relationship has been strained for years. However, there may be hope for a reunion, according to Art Garfunkel's son, Art Garfunkel Jr.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Art Jr. said that he thinks his father and Paul Simon will always be best friends, and that they are in touch and on good terms. He also said that he would not rule out the possibility of them performing again, and that he would love to see it happen.
"I think that it is possible, and I'd love to see it happen. I think my dad and Paul will always be best friends. There is a lot of love. They are in touch. Things are going in a good direction, and I think that the possibility is there," he said.
Art Jr. also revealed that his father is healthy and hopeful, and that Paul is doing well enough, despite his hearing loss. He suggested that a reunion could be motivated by a charitable cause, or by the desire to go back on tour like Taylor Swift. He also expressed his wish to be their opening act if they ever come to Germany, where he lives and performs their songs in German.
Art Jr. is not the only one who wants to see Simon and Garfunkel reunite. Their fans have been longing for a comeback since their last tour in 2010, which marked the 40th anniversary of their landmark album ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water.’ The tour was cut short due to Art's vocal cord problems, and since then, the duo has not shared a stage.
Their relationship has also been rocky for decades, as they have had artistic and personal differences, and have often criticized each other in public. In 2016, Paul told Rolling Stone that they were no longer on speaking terms, and that he did not anticipate another reunion.
However, Art Jr.'s comments suggest that there may be a chance for reconciliation, and that the legendary duo may surprise their fans with a new performance.
