Foreigner have finally received a nomination for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, after being eligible for more than two decades.
The band, best known for hits like "I Want to Know What Love Is", "Cold as Ice", and "Juke Box Hero", has been eligible for the Rock Hall since 2002, but has been overlooked by the voters until now.
Mick Jones, founder and last original member still in the band, said, “I deeply appreciate the recognition from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame committee. It is wonderful that Foreigner has maintained its presence all these years and brought the music to our fans. Getting this news today is an incredible endorsement of what we have achieved over time. I know I speak for my fellow Foreigner nominees, Lou Gramm, Rick Wills, Al Greenwood, Dennis Elliott and the families of [the late] Ed Gagliardi and Ian McDonald."
Foreigner has sold more than 80 million records worldwide and has had 10 multi-platinum albums and 16 top 30 hits. The band is currently touring with a new lineup, featuring former Hurricane singer Kelly Hansen on vocals.
