Paul Simon has shared some good news with his fans: the hearing in his left ear has improved. The revelation came during a special screening of ‘In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon,’ hosted by Stephen Colbert in New York City.
Simon had previously opened up about his hearing loss while promoting his album Seven Psalms last year. The issue had impacted his comfort with performing, but recent developments have brought a positive change. Speaking with Colbert, Simon expressed, "That's come back to enough of a degree that I'm comfortable singing and playing guitar and playing a few other instruments."
The improvement has allowed Simon to hear his voice as he desires within the musical context, a crucial factor for any performer. However, he noted that loud instruments like drums or electric guitars still pose a challenge. Recalling the initial stages of his hearing loss, Simon described the disorienting experience of sounds being one-sided.
Fans of the artist can look forward to the premiere of In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon on MGM+ this Sunday night.
