The Library of Congress' Gershwin Prize ceremony was a spectacle of stars gathered to honor the legendary songwriting duo, Elton John and Bernie Taupin.
Metallica delivered a powerful rendition of "Love Lies Bleeding/Funeral for a Friend," encapsulating the raw emotion and energy that John and Taupin's music has inspired over the decades. Annie Lennox's soulful performance of "Border Song" resonated with the depth and poignancy of the duo's lyrics.
Annie Lennox, Joni Mitchell, and Brandi Carlile united for a collaboration on "I'm Still Standing." Carlile also offered her interpretation of "Madman Across the Water."
Before accepting the prestigious award, Elton John performed “Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters” and “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting." The ceremony also featured performances by Maren Morris, Charlie Puth and Billy Porter. The special will air on PBS on April 8th.
