John Lennon fans will get an expanded reissue of Lennon's seminal fourth album, "Mind Games," originally released in 1973. The new collection, "Mind Games – The Ultimate Collection," will be released on July 12th in six different configurations.
The most lavish of these, the "Super Deluxe Edition," is limited to just 1100 copies worldwide and carries a price tag of $1350. It includes four LPs with various mixes and documentaries, six CDs, two Blu-ray discs, a 128-page hardback book, and a lof of memorabilia, including posters, postcards, and a "Karmic Wheel" hologram-engraved picture disc.
Yoko Ono, reflected on the title track, "Mind Games," as a powerful anthem that was ahead of its time, emphasizing the potential of positive mental engagement to shape the future. The reissue brings that message to the forefront, offering fans a chance to immerse themselves in the creative process of Lennon and Ono loads of unreleased material and extras. These include a 288-page coffee-table book detailing the couple's life events and the making of the album, along with a range of reproduction memorabilia that captures the essence of their artistic and philosophical endeavors.
Accompanying the announcement of the reissue is the release of the "Mind Games Evolution Documentary" that traces the development of the album's title track from its initial demo to the final master. This documentary, now up on YouTube, provides an intimate look at Lennon's creative process.
