Cher has reversed her previous stance on her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Last year, during an appearance on “The Kelly Clarkson Show”, Cher emphatically stated that she would decline the honor even "if they gave me a million dollars." She’s apparently changed her mind.
In a recent interview with “Entertainment Tonight”, Cher revealed that she will indeed attend the induction ceremony. She expressed gratitude for the support of her friend, record and movie executive David Geffen, and Hall of Fame Foundation Chairman John Sykes, for her nomination and election. Cher did promise a speech that will be unique to her. On that subject, Cher said, "I will have some words to say. I’m gonna accept it in my ‘Cher’ [way] … as me.”
Many believe Cher's change of heart may have been influenced by longtime friend Dolly Parton, who was inducted into the Hall in 2022 after initially declining her own nomination. Cher will join Peter Frampton, Foreigner, Dave Matthews Band, Ozzy Osbourne, Mary J. Blige, Kool & the Gang, and A Tribe Called Quest at the induction ceremony on October 19th at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland.
