Brian Wilson makes rare appearance

Brian Wilson returned to the public eye at Tuesday's premiere of The Beach Boys documentary, despite his recent dementia diagnosis. The event, held at the IMAX Live Experience in Hollywood, was a gathering of the current and former members of the iconic band.

Wilson was accompanied by Mike Love and Bruce Johnston, the current Beach Boys, and former members Al Jardine, Blondie Chaplin, and David Marks. This was Wilson's first public appearance since his diagnosis was announced in February.

Brian was joined by oldest daughters Carnie and Wendy Wilson. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Carnie shared that her father is "doing great!" and spends his days in physical therapy and quality time with his family. She revealed, "I’m cooking for him, he’s spending a lot of time with his children now, his family.” Wendy added to her sister's sentiments, stating, "I think he’s doing really good under the circumstances that he’s going through right now. But, you know, he’s a survivor. That’s my dad. He’s very tough, a very strong person.”

The past few months have been challenging for Wilson, who, in addition to his dementia diagnosis, lost his wife of 29 years, Melinda, in January.

The Beach Boys documentary debuts tomorrow on Disney+.
