Despite the number of documentaries already dedicated to the late John Lennon, another is on the horizon. Titled "One to One: John & Yoko," the film is set in 1972 and looks back at the couple's relocation from England to New York City, where they resided until Lennon's tragic death on December 8th, 1980.
The narrative centers around the One to One concerts, Lennon's only full-length performances post-Beatles. The audio has been remixed and produced by his son, Sean, and the footage has been restored. The documentary also features previously unseen and unheard personal archives, including phone calls and home movies recorded and filmed by John and Yoko themselves.
Director Kevin Macdonald expressed his desire to surprise and delight even the most dedicated Lennon and Ono fans by focusing on a transformative period in their lives and telling their story through their own words, images, and music. Sean Lennon added that the documentary provides a completely fresh insight into his parents' lives during their Bank Street and early New York years, showcasing their unwavering dedication to promoting peace and non-violence during a turbulent era of unrest.
The release date for the film has not yet been revealed.
