The Rascals have breathed new life into their classic 1967 hit "Groovin'" with a new remix. This rejuvenated version comes courtesy of Daytime Disco pioneers Poolside, with Jeffrey Paradise expressing his excitement over the official release, "We never imagined it would ever get an official release and excited to have it unearthed. This is a song for every summer!”
The remix, which first appeared on the Contact High Mixtape in 2016, has now been officially released.
The timeless appeal of "Groovin'" is evident as it has recently been certified platinum, a testament to its enduring popularity and resonance with listeners. Felix Cavaliere, who co-wrote the song with Eddie Brigati, shared his heartfelt reaction to this achievement: “I am very humbled and honored that after 57 years, 'Groovin'' has reached another huge milestone by being certified platinum." The song's success is not just a personal triumph but also a bridge to newer generations who are discovering The Rascals' music for the first time.
Gene Cornish, the guitarist for The Rascals, echoed Cavaliere's sentiments, expressing his gratitude for the song's platinum status and its global reach. "People all over the world are still enjoying the Rascals' music. This is all that matters.” The song, which was inspired by Cavaliere's Sunday rendezvous with his then-girlfriend amidst a hectic touring and recording schedule, has left a significant mark on music history. It not only peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 but also earned a spot on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s list of “500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll” and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
