Stevie Nicks, the iconic voice of Fleetwood Mac, has declared the end of the legendary band in a candid interview with England's Mojo magazine. Following the death of bandmate Christine McVie in 2022, Stevie feels that Fleetwood Mac cannot continue without her. "Without Christine, no can do," she stated firmly, closing the door on any future reunions.
The loss of McVie was a sudden blow to Stevie, who expressed her deep regret at not being able to say a personal farewell, a moment she described as "stunningly strange" and "very hard" for her.
While Stevie acknowledges the possibility of collaborating with Lindsey Buckingham again, she casts doubt on the feasibility of such a partnership due to his recent health issues and the demanding nature of a touring schedule.
Buckingham, who underwent heart surgery in 2019, has since returned to recording and touring. Stevie seems to have made peace with the band's past, including the controversial departure of Buckingham in 2018, which led to his replacement by Neil Finn (of Crowded House fame) and Mike Campbell from The Heartbreakers for the band's final tour.
Stevie shares her acceptance of Fleetwood Mac's dissolution and her readiness to embrace her solo career fully. With a sense of pride in her band, she looks forward to the freedom to perform Fleetwood Mac's music in her own way, especially songs like 'The Chain,' which she has never done solo.
