Paul Simon optimistic about the future

In 2018, Paul Simon decided to stop touring, a decision that left many fans wondering about the future of his live performances. Last year, the legendary singer-songwriter revealed a significant personal challenge: he had lost most of his hearing in his left ear. Despite this setback, Simon has experienced some improvement in his condition, giving him hope for the future.

Last month, Simon performed a 7-song acoustic benefit show in New York, marking a tentative return to the stage. In an interview with The Guardian, he expressed optimism about his ability to perform a full-length concert again. “I’m optimistic. Six months ago I was pessimistic,” he shared, highlighting his changing outlook on his musical career.

Simon has not ruled out the possibility of touring again. He clarified, “I never said I was going to retire. I said I was going to stop, which I did.” Reflecting on his past performances, he mentioned that he felt he had taken his band and repertoire as far as they could go. However, a dream inspired him to return to music, leading to his 2023 album, Seven Psalms. Simon also hinted at new music in the works, suggesting that his creative journey is far from over.

We’ll keep you posted.
