Stevie Nicks graced the stage of Saturday Night Live as the musical guest, performing her iconic hit “Edge of Seventeen” from her debut solo album, Bella Donna, and her latest single, “The Lighthouse,” from her new album released just last month. Nicks expressed her excitement and nerves about the appearance, telling People magazine that performing on SNL is “just about the biggest thing you can do, bigger than a stadium show because it’s going to go out all over the world.” Despite her extensive experience, she admitted that the prospect of performing on such a widely viewed platform still made her nervous, but she was thrilled to be invited back.
In the lead-up to her performance, Stevie showcased her acting chops in a series of promotional skits along with host Ariana Grande and SNL cast member Bowen Yang. During a playful exchange, Nicks humorously resisted their attempts to get her to sing during the promo, with Grande and Yang cleverly weaving her song lyrics into their conversation. This culminated in a charming moment where Nicks finally gave in and sang a line from her classic song “Landslide,” much to the delight of her legions of fans.
This marked Stevie Nicks’ second appearance on SNL, her first being in December 1983 when she performed “Stand Back” and “Nightbird.”
