The Who will be back in action next year, according to Pete Townshend. In a recent interview with “The Standard,” Townshend shared that he and Roger Daltrey are in good spirits and have plans for 2025. "I met with Roger for lunch a couple of weeks ago. We’re in good form. We love each other. We’re both getting a bit creaky, but we will definitely do something next year,” he said.
Regarding the possibility of a new album, Townshend mentioned that while Daltrey isn’t particularly enthusiastic about the idea, he himself is keen on it. "Roger’s not keen. But I would love to do another album, and I may try to bully him on that,” Townshend remarked, hinting at potential new music on the horizon.
When asked about touring, Townshend discussed a desire to return to a more raw and spontaneous performance style. “The last big tours that we’ve done have been with a full orchestra, which was glorious, but we’re now eager to make a noise and make a mess and make mistakes,” he explained. The Who’s last album, “WHO,” was released in 2019, and their most recent tour concluded in 2023, although they did perform two shows in March at London’s Royal Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
